Christmas Window Painting at Western GMC Edmonton

I am always welcomed by friendly faces at Western GMC. I’ve painted their windows for a few years and I feel right at home when I go there. I’ll be doing more images for them but here are a couple I finished this evening. These windows are about 9 or 10 feet high so this is one great big Santa!

I seem to always gravitate to one theme each year as I do all my Christmas window painting and I think that this year it’s TOQUES! A toque is a winter hat for those of you who don’t know this very Canadian word. It is pronounced: “Two - k” I wonder what kind of TOQUE fun I can get into over the next few days while I finish up some Christmas window painting!

Christmas Window Painting Galore at Western GMC

Two days of painting the majority of the windows at Edmonton's Western Buick GMC! Along with the decorations that staff had already put up, the place is now really festive. It matches the amount of snow we now have!

It was an interesting day today because I had to really control myself and focus on painting. I’ve got a tight Christmas window painting schedule so I had to paint when I really wanted to just go play Fangirl and watch SiriusXM have a live broadcast “Hockey Night in Canada”. I got a quick look at Craig Simpson, Dave Lumley, and Jason Strudwick there. At least I got to hear the broadcast as I was painting. It was kinda cool! Too bad it was in the middle of the day so it was hard for people working to get to stop by. I mentioned to my daughter who was there and she said, “Cool! Good thing you dressed up today.” … as I stood there in my paint clothes.

It’s always nice to be asked back to paint at Western GMC.

Back at Western GMC

Back window painting at Western GMC for their Miles PLUS Event. I painted this in three different areas of the showroom. I may have done the red background a little too dark but I wanted to make sure the white wording showed up. I think I accomplished that. Going into Western GMC to paint definitely has a great comfort level for me after painting so many times for them! It's a nice feeling when I so often am hired to do caricatures, face painting or window painting at different locations for different clients. A bit of normalcy is nice every once in awhile. To know where you're going for the day's job, know where to park, know a lot of the staff, know where the washrooms are, feel comfortable walking into a staff area … it's always nice to be asked back!

Window Painting GMC's Chrome Event and $500 Gas Card

I was back at Western GMC again this week to paint 3 windows with GMC CHROME EVENT and two windows with $500 GAS CARD. They keep me out of trouble that's for sure! I was there for two days and I realised that when I woke up on the second day, that I looked forward to going. Not necessarily for all the work that was waiting for me but because the atmosphere there is so positive.
They are busy (hence the fact that they can say they are Alberta's #1 GMC & Buick Dealership) and friendly and welcoming to me.

These two graphics were taken from their official promotions so I tried to make them look like the company's official graphics as much as possible.

Cleaning off some of my Window Paintings

A few clients will have me back to clean off my window painting. This doesn't happen often and let's face it, I'd hate to have to go back to each place that I painted at this past holiday season to clean their windows! Today was a huge cleaning day at Western GMC because not only was I cleaning off Christmas stuff (and they had me paint a lot of that), but 3 promotions were over which I had painted on 5 of their big windows! I think it took me about 9 hours to clean. Needless to say, my I'm one stiff puppy tonight! Here's hoping that I bounce back well and wake up miraculously pain free!

There's something kinda cool in all the globs of paint in my bucket. Makes a girl wanna paint a canvas and do a little bit of splattering! Now to squeeze in a little bit of "Paint-Just-Cause-I-Wanna" time. Wish me luck.

More window painting at Edmonton's Western GMC!

Western GMC is starting to look like my own personal art museum! So nice that those in command are so eager to have me paint on their windows. So thankful for that and that it's a great atmosphere to be in!

This graphic is part of GMC's Boxing Days promotion, not my own. I really like how they did the snowflakes up at the top.

Western GMC has been "LAUREL-ITISED!"

Western GMC has been "LAUREL-ITISED!

What is "LAUREL-ITISED"? …. Well I think everywhere you turn at Western GMC you'll find some of my window painting! Jamie gave me instructions to "Go big! I want more than last year!" He wanted something all the way along the front of the showroom so I put Christmas bulbs. You'll find a big Santa, elves, Christmas tree, snowman (shown in a recent blog entry) and a couple more Santa designs in the Service Department (as shown here). Not to mention the a few window painting jobs of promotions that are still up and running. BOOM. It's been LAURELITISED!

Thanks Western GMC for giving me your windows as my canvas. You're awesome!

My Window Painting Before The Outlines

My Window Painting Before The Outlines. I thought this was interesting photos to show you - What my window paintings look like JUST BEFORE I do the black outlines. Kinda cool! You'll notice in the second photo that a penguin appears in the middle … He was done especially for Chantel who works at the desk right there. She requested a penguin so she got a penguin. If I did it right, I think it's in the perfect spot for her to look at all day. She had gone home by the time I got there to work on it so I hope it makes her smile when she goes into work in the morning!

The 2012 Edition of Christmas windows at Western GMC!

I love painting at Santa on their windows because they are so huge. This
Santa stands about 8 or 9 feet tall. Of course he's holding a key to one
of the cars in the showroom that I'd love to have!

The tall, thin window at the front entrance is always a spot that makes
me use my artistic brain a bit ... this year, it's elves! And I think
this snowman is very friendly and welcoming. They've asked me to come
in and add more than I did last year so there'll be another trip in! I
love their Christmas spirit!

window painting, THE LOOK INSIDE AND OUT

Edmonton Window Painting (inside) Christmas Tree
Edmonton Window Painting Christmas Star
This is what my windows look like from the inside and out. The close up
photo of the star and bit of the Christmas tree was taken from the
inside. I pride myself in making my window paintings look neat and tidy
and nice to look at on the inside as well as the outside. Why is it that
some window painters don't care about the inside?

To me, mine are a bit like stained glass art. And I do like, big and
bold images.

The full photo of the Christmas tree was taken from the opposite side
(the outside).

Edmonton's Western GMC window painting

Painting at one of my favourite places again today … Edmonton Western GMC. Took their promotional art from their website for this window painting. Nice to be back at Western GMC and I’ll be heading downtown to Edmonton Motors to put some pizzaz on their windows. Their treat me well and I’m happy to have been asked to paint at another location for the general manager. I’m looking forward to thinking up some fun, big Christmas stuff for them again this year. I’m starting to physic myself up for the on slot of Christmas window painting. We do Christmas big time here in Edmonton. The United States does Thanksgiving but Canada definitely does Christmas up right. It might have something to do with … I’m not going to say it, that four letter white word!

painting halloween windows at Western GMC

Good fun painting halloween stuff on some of the windows at Western GMC! This big green guy stands taller than me at about 6 ft. tall. One of the salesmen today commented that he’s been waiting for that big green guy to scare a little kid. So far it hasn’t happened. Well, I think he’s a tad too cute to be scary! I love it when a client just says, “Come in and do up the place with Halloween stuff.” …. so great to use my imagination! Thanks a bunch Western GMC!

I SPENT THE DAY ON A SCAFFOLD!

For a girl who is slightly afraid of heights, Ross at Western GMC made me feel safe up on the scaffold. Watching me get down off the scaffold would have been amusing - graceful NOT! I’ll miss doing work at Western GMC (I don’t think they have any bare windows left!) .... till their next big promotion.
