I had the pleasure of drawing caricatures again for Sysco Foods at their Fall Food Expo. I was too busy to see very many of the exhibitors but what I did see looked delicious! The white chocolate sculpture of an eagle was amazing. It took some willpower not to take a quick bite out of it on my way past! I drew and met a lot of friendly people from around Alberta that were there for the day.

Caricatures for Sysco Healthcare & Hospitality Food Expo

Drawing caricatures at Sysco Edmonton today for their Healthcare & Hospitality Food Expo.

I drew along side of my friend and colleague, Gerry Rasmussen. It's always nice to have more than one caricaturist at an event. While setting up we get a chance to chat about life and art. You think we have lots to talk about? You bet! - All caricaturists have a lot of common experiences. Sometimes it may seem like a lonely profession even though we get to connect with all sorts of people on a regular basis, but another caricaturist "gets you"! If we happen to be seated close to each other, we get the added bonus of every once in awhile, getting to check out each other's drawings. The two of us have such different styles so a few people took the time to have both of us draw them. that opportunity doesn't come along too often.

I recognised a few people that I'd drawn last year at another Sysco Edmonton event! There was even a lady that I recognised and she said that I'd drawn her at a birthday party earlier in the year.

I was told that the sales reps often see one of the caricatures up in the client's office from the Sysco Food Show... That's pretty cool in my world!

Caricatures at the Sysco Food Show

I did caricatures today at Sysco Edmonton's 2012 Food Show at Northlands Edmonton Expo Centre. As always, meeting new people and at times, getting a good chuckle myself with some of the caricatures! In this first picture it's too bad the lighting is dark because you can't see the definition of her hair …. so just look at the caricature and imagine it because it really did look like the drawing! What fun she was! A lot of the photos that I take, like this one, makes me smile long after I've done the drawing. I imagine myself retired and reminiscing, looking at these photos. Oh and this lady's smile was actually a whole lot bigger when I was drawing her and talking to her (kinda like the drawing …. well I might have exaggerated a teeny, tiny bit). 

The second caricature of the young guy was lots of fun too … it was a good hair day for me as you can see! I'd like to send out a big thank you to people who put their necks out there with funky hair, piercings, clothing, facial hair, etc … because it really does add to my world!
