Edmonton Artists Tim Hortons Window painting

Edmonton Artists Tim Hortons Window painting
184 Street and 111 Ave in West Edmonton

Last night I painted my third Tim Hortons restaurant in 3 nights - I am a bit tired now... It was nice weather so that helped, it can get quite cold painting windows near the doors.  I guess I should keep count but I have painted a lot of Santas on Windows.  I try to make each one special and somewhat unique.

When I paint windows I try to make them look good inside and outside.  It takes a bit longer but I hope people like the results.  Making windows a little festive is fun and when the days are short it adds a bit of colour to the restaurant.

Cheers, Laurel

Window painting at Haps Hungry House Edmonton

Window painting at Haps Hungry House Edmonton

It's always a pleasure to paint Christmas windows for Hap and Mary at Hap's Hungry House.
Mary decorates while I paint. Good conversation while we work!

Go into Hap's for a delicious breakfast or lunch in a cozy atmosphere. Hap's is open Tuesday - Saturday 7 am - 3 pm, Sundays 8 am - 3 pm and they are closed on Mondays.

These photos show some of the images from the outside and some from the inside. You can see that the inside is still neat and tidy, an important thing in my view. Window painting is supposed to attract customers but if your window painting is messy on the inside, it's not visually enjoyable for your customers once they're inside.

Caricatures at Investors Group Christmas Party, Edmonton

I had a really great time with a fabulous bunch of people of Investors Group for their Christmas party! They were nice enough to feed me supper along with great conversation at our table. Once back at the drawing board I drew some of these great people …

Window Painting for NewWest Travel in Edmonotn

It was great to be back at NewWest Travel for another year of painting their windows for Christmas. Each year I try and come up with new images for their windows that are both travel and Christmas themed. I wonder if I will run out of ideas one year? So which plane ticket of these would YOU choose? Give them a call and choose your own destination!

Why is it that I, all of a sudden, have an urge to go on a holiday? ... It MAY have something to do with hearing the travel agents all day, talking to people over the phone about different holiday spots!

Christmas Window Painting at Western GMC Edmonton

I am always welcomed by friendly faces at Western GMC. I’ve painted their windows for a few years and I feel right at home when I go there. I’ll be doing more images for them but here are a couple I finished this evening. These windows are about 9 or 10 feet high so this is one great big Santa!

I seem to always gravitate to one theme each year as I do all my Christmas window painting and I think that this year it’s TOQUES! A toque is a winter hat for those of you who don’t know this very Canadian word. It is pronounced: “Two - k” I wonder what kind of TOQUE fun I can get into over the next few days while I finish up some Christmas window painting!

Caricatures for Edmonton Misericordia Hospital Staff

Fun at the Misericordia Hospital today. I had a nice time chatting with the staff while I drew them. It was impressive to hear their about their job … since I pretty much faint at the sight of blood I’m impressed with what they do. It was great to see some people I knew because I live nearby myself. This wasn’t the first time I’d drawn at The Misericordia and it was so nice to be asked back.

Caricatures at Edmonton's Muttart Conservatory

A lovely night doing caricatures of annual pass holders of the The Muttart. I was located in the feature pyramid and it was gorgeous. I’ve included a photo. The polar bear had carnations in it and the smell was heavenly.

Here are some photos of a few of the people I drew. Look at this adorable little girl and her mom. She she smiled for me after I’d already drawn her mouth. She’s a cutie either way! The couple in the photo are people that I’d drawn a few years ago. I’d be interested in seeing the difference between the two caricatures. I had recognized their faces right away as being familiar. That’s the thing with doing caricatures, you look, really look at people so if you see them again you recognize them.

Caricatures for Shell Christmas Party Edmonton

I had a great time drawing for a Shell Christmas Party. They treated their employees to a jazz band, DJ, karaoke, a great dinner and me doing caricatures! It was cold night with snow from a recent big snowfall, but everyone was having a great time. I enjoyed chatting with those people I drew. Here are a few of my favourite drawings from the evening.

Face and Body Painting at Christmas Party Edmonton

What do you get when you have a Christmas party and little girls in pretty dresses? …. You get several who want you to paint Elsa from the movie “Frozen”! They were so adorable all together.

Santas, snowmen, snowflakes, Grinch, gingerbread men …. it’s such a nice treat to paint Christmas things instead of the usual stuff.

Caricatures at the INTUIT Kid's Christmas Party Edmonton

This little girl was so super cute. She gave me about six different smiles to choose from!I loved her little sweater dress as you can see in the drawing. Another one of my favourite things: her hair style. I love drawing that crisp cut.

It was a day of drawing entire families. I don’t have any photos though because one family member would sit down for me while the rest of them were off getting their face painted, or a balloon animal made, or eating and then once I was done drawing that person, the member of the family would come over and the one sitting in my chair would head off to do the other activities too. Gathering a whole family up for a photo seemed like too much to ask. But I’m happy to have this little gem of a photo to show you ….
