Edmonton Artists Tim Hortons Window painting

Edmonton Artists Tim Hortons Window painting
184 Street and 111 Ave in West Edmonton

Last night I painted my third Tim Hortons restaurant in 3 nights - I am a bit tired now... It was nice weather so that helped, it can get quite cold painting windows near the doors.  I guess I should keep count but I have painted a lot of Santas on Windows.  I try to make each one special and somewhat unique.

When I paint windows I try to make them look good inside and outside.  It takes a bit longer but I hope people like the results.  Making windows a little festive is fun and when the days are short it adds a bit of colour to the restaurant.

Cheers, Laurel

Quite the work day

Quite the work day I had Thursday: Started off the day at Corus Entertainment till about 4 p.m. then went to the Microsoft Store in West Edmonton Mall and drew caricatures 6 - 9 p.m. I drew some ladies that worked in the mall, families visiting from out of town, couples going to a movie, and some nice young boys who are new to Canada! They boys have been in Canada for 3 months from Argentina. When I asked one of the boys if he liked Canada, instantly he got a smile on his face and said, "OH YES!" It's so nice to hear that he's enjoying his new home! (and it was -20 something outside too!)

My day wasn't finished at that point, oh no.... I dropped my caricature supplies off at home, spent an hour or so chatting with my family and then headed over to finish up at one of the Tim Hortons I had been painting at the night before. Now the 10221-170 Street Tim Hortons is all Laurel'd - Up - Christmas - Style! I think I finished at about 3 a.m. and left with muffins in hand as a nice surprise breakfast treat for my family. Oh, let me clarify that a little ... I just found out that my 17 year old son ate them all. Someone in the house enjoyed them anyway!

yes, when you're self employed you're your own Boss

I was in at the 184 Street & 111 Avenue Tim Hortons West Edmonton location last night painting their windows. When I walked it I could see that they definitely needed some window painting done to make the store a little more festive for the season! Mission accomplished I think since I did this sort of look on all the windows. In the next few days I will also be painting at the 102 Avenue-170 Street and 178 Street & 111 Avenue Tim Hortons locations.

I think I’m nearing the end of my Christmas window painting list!

Caricatures at a Tim Horton's Staff Picnic

I had the opportunity to draw caricatures for a Tim Horton's Staff Picnic this past weekend and got to draw my second cousin's granddaughter! I found out that I had drawn her and her mom at a company Christmas party this past December and non of us realised it.

Of course my beverage was served in a Tim Horton's cup and I heard that there were Tim Bits to enjoy. The classic Canadian Picnic! It was a cold day so once I was done, I stopped in at one of their locations at the top of the hill from Hermitage Park to grab a tea and a few Tim Bits myself …. I hadn't had time to eat, busy drawing of course.

In these examples from the day, I loved how this young guy's hair turned out. You can't see it as much with him facing straight ahead in the photo but he really did have this cool hair!

And the next photo is of my cousin … would she be a fourth cousin if she's my 2nd cousin's granddaughter? I have no idea how that works. We're family anyway, that's all the detail we need to know. Such a treat to be able to draw her.

Tim Hortons Camp Day 2012 Window art

It’s that time of year again folks ... that’s right, it’s Camp Day - Wednesday, June 6th at your local Tim Hortons.  Camp Day is almost as well known as Roll Up The Rim.  Donate to send underprivileged kids to summer camp and give them a fun experience.  It feels good when you do good.

Looking at the Bright Side of Life!

Here is lookin' at the bright side of life!

As an Edmonton artist I get to meet a lot of interesting people, most are out at an event enjoying the brighter side of life.  I often get to go to parties, weddings, special events and community outings to draw caricatures or do face painting.  Companies, organizations and sports teams contact me to design graphics and logos.  Others have me add cartoons to their advertisements.  I have done many paintings,  whether it be murals or on canvas.  These commissioned paintings are perfect for home or office.  Businesses also contact me to design signs, or do window painting.

I like what I do and feel lucky that I get to see people who get to look at bright side of life
