Caricatures at a Tim Horton's Staff Picnic

I had the opportunity to draw caricatures for a Tim Horton's Staff Picnic this past weekend and got to draw my second cousin's granddaughter! I found out that I had drawn her and her mom at a company Christmas party this past December and non of us realised it. 

Of course my beverage was served in a Tim Horton's cup and I heard that there were Tim Bits to enjoy. The classic Canadian Picnic! It was a cold day so once I was done, I stopped in at one of their locations at the top of the hill from Hermitage Park to grab a tea and a few Tim Bits myself …. I hadn't had time to eat, busy drawing of course.

In these examples from the day, I loved how this young guy's hair turned out. You can't see it as much with him facing straight ahead in the photo but he really did have this cool hair! 

And the next photo is of my cousin … would she be a fourth cousin if she's my 2nd cousin's granddaughter? I have no idea how that works. We're family anyway, that's all the detail we need to know. Such a treat to be able to draw her.

CARICATURES 

AT THE EDMONTON VALLEY ZOO ON FREE ADMISSION DAY 

 It was quite the day full of people and drawing caricatures today at the Valley Zoo!  I heard at the end of the day that there had been 17,000 people who walked through the front gates today.  I drew someone who knew a member of my family in B.C., I drew someone who I’d drawn last year (and she waited in line again this year!) and drew many new faces that I will remember from here on in! Here are a few of my favourite caricatures from the day.  I sure wish I’d had more time to take more photos to keep for my memories. Looking at the pictures brings me back to the fun of the moment.  Hope you enjoy looking through the samples of my caricatures.

thank-you Teresa - Rogue Fitness you're so accommodating and awesome

   The great thing about being an artist is that when you want to give someone a little Thank You, all you have to do is pick up your Sharpie.  Well .... it's actually a little bit harder than that because realistically, you need to find the time to do it first!  That's just a small detail.  Anyway, so I wanted to thank Teresa at Rogue Fitness (in Edmonton) for being so accommodating and awesome.  One week my daughter forgot her runners and Teresa found her a pair to borrow.  Then the next week I forgot my runners and she found me some too.  She has squeezed us into a class that was already technically full.  If you're looking for a facility that isn't too big but isn't too small, Rogue Fitness is just right.  You'll feel welcome instantly.  We did.

   But back to the caricature .... Teresa was surprised, she thought I was a teacher for some reason!?  Nope, I draw, paint, cut, imagine, sit deep in thought (trying to come up with a cool new idea for a logo or whatever), type, talk, click, draw, paint and draw some more... I love my Sharpies!

A Sharpie is one of my favourite tools!

What do I use to do all my caricatures? It’s simple .... Sharpies! 

If you’ve found the perfect pen, why try others? 

I personally should have a share in the Sharpie company OR at the very least, get a thank you letter from the company. 

I don’t know how many I’ve bought over the last several years but I’ve loved each and every one of them. 

So go pick up a Sharpie and a piece of paper and make some magic!

Does anyone have any ideas for me?

THIS LITTLE GUY NEEDS SOME SORT OF LIFE!?

I sat down the other night to simply draw. I don't often get to "just draw" because it's usually with the purpose of getting someone's project/job done.

I came upon this little guy. He made me smile. I feel the need to use him in some sort of way. Does anyone have any ideas for me?
