Face Painting

Face Painting is a pretty cool form of art! You do it and it gets washed off before bed or on some child’s pillow at night! There are some that I do that I’m so pleased with, like this Ninja Turtle, snake and this little blue birdie!

I so LOVE summer, where there are arms and legs to paint on too.

Caricatures at The High Street Block Party

It was a busy day for met at The High Street Block Party!

I met and drew some pretty neat people. There were two young women from Germany and Bulgaria who are travelling across Canada. You’ll see their photos here with the little maple leaf on their caricature.

A french family with four kids that ranged from ages 5 - 15 who were all the politest, great kids to have sit in front of me to draw. A lady I’ve known for years from the days when I used to be an aquafit instructor at Grand Trunk Fitness & Leisure Centre. A woman who just turned 60 who was celebrating her zest for life and fun. Her smile lit up her whole face. A couple who made me laugh. Specifically the guy who would continuously raise one eyebrow every time I looked up at him! I drew a couple’s two little dogs.

And here is a picture of a guy with his dog who put sunglasses on him when they sat down for their caricature. The man told someone the dog’s name and said that the dog has his own website. Sorry, I have forgotten the dog’s name so you may have a hard time finding the little guy’s website!

Thank you to The High Street businesses for asking me to be there.

Caricatures on Canada Day

I face painted, along side my daughter, on Canada Day at the Canadian Forces Base Edmonton. It was a hot day, thankfully we were under at tent so not only didn’t the kids in line appreciate getting their face, leg or arm painted, but they also got to sit in the shade while we painted on them! All the kids were really polite and sat still well for us too and when you’re painting on someone, that really helps.

My favourite of the day was the young girl who wanted her whole face the Canadian flag. Hope she was going out after the CFB Canada Day festivities were over to show off her patriotism!

Here is also a photo of a little cutie who wanted a full face ladybug. I had never actually done a full face ladybug before so I thought it turned out just fine. I also liked the two brothers who wanted the funky design on their arms: one in gold, one in silver.

CFB Edmonton sure puts on a fine event for people out at the base! I didn’t have a chance to walk around since I got there, set up, had just enough time to get this awesome photo of my daughter, Quinlyn, and I in front of their giant Canadian flag …. then paint for 3 hours! Quinlyn thought it was cool when we pulled up to the park and there was a tank “right there!"

wedding caricature

A beautiful evening to sit out on the patio and do caricatures at a wedding reception. Not everyone wants to dance or dance every song so caricatures are a popular addition to the wedding reception.

A great bunch of people from the Edmonton law firm Bennett Jones.

It's too bad my camera phone didn't do too well in the dim lighting.

Here is one photo that turned out okay.

Window painting at Laugh Shop in Sherwood Park

well yesterday I painted more windows...  at the Laugh Shop in Sherwood Park Alberta

I Painted some of the windows at The Laugh Shop in Sherwood Park this past week and I am going in to paint more later this week.   At this time I do not have any pictures of the Window Paintings but there are many examples on my blog...

The Laugh Shop is located at 4 Blackfoot Road in Sherwood Park.

If you going there from Edmonton to Laugh Shop in Sherwood Park take the Baseline exit, your first right and look for Laugh Shop on your left a couple blocks.

The owner, Andrew Grose, is a popular comedian and a nice guy! Go check their shows out ... and don't forget to look at my windows!

CFR window paintings for Corus Entertainment Inc. (radio) in Edmonton

I had a great time, once again, painting windows at Corus Entertainment (The building that houses CISN, JOE FM, CHED and COOL 880).
It's nice receiving a "hello!" from radio personalities. It's always nice to be able to put a face to the voices that I hear on the radio all the time.

Mike McGuire from CISN had me on the radio twice while I was painting the window of his sound booth! He suggested I mention how to get in touch with me if someone wanted some window painting done. I was thrilled to have the chance to promote the window painting part of my art.
THANK YOU MIKE for giving me that opportunity! I am presently doing a cartoon of him as an official thank you . . . look for it on my blog soon . . . or on the Mike McGuire blog!
