Kid's Birthday Party Caricatures: Edmonton Artist Laurel

Drew caricatures at a very big, very busy kid’s birthday party! This first little girl (from my photos here), in the blue dress, helped me with my sign up sheet all afternoon. I was so impressed at how she took on the task and was un-wavered! What a huge help she was and she kept the kids coming so I could just concentrate on drawing.

Don’t you think that the girl wearing all the gold necklaces looks like a young Molly Ringwald from Pretty in Pink? I think so!

One lady was so pleased to be able to have gotten a caricature of all three of her kids. See the photo below

Day 2 at The Cheremosh Ukraininan Dance Festival

I have a lot of photos to show from the Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Festival but I was there for 10 hours so it makes sense that I’d have this many photos to show you! I loved drawing at this festival because as you can see, the dancers were so good at smiling - they made it easy for me. I got to draw lots of braids and lovely Ukrainian attire. So here are only SOME of my favourites from the day … I had such a wonderful time but boy, was I tired at the end. You don’t realise how tired you are until you stop!

When I look at these they bring a smile to my face. Hope they do the same for you. I feel so lucky being able to do this for a living.

My first afternoon drawing at the Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Festival, at The Arden Theatre in St. Albert, was a pleasure to be at. There’s nothing like drawing dancers … they sure know how to smile and it’s easy for them to hold that smile. Sure makes it easy for a caricaturist! Here are some of my favourites from the day.

I’m sure I will have several more to show you after back drawing there again tomorrow. Looking forward to it!

Christmas Window Painting at St Albert's Farlie Travel

Back again this year at Farlie Travel in St. Albert to do their Christmas window painting. A great group of people that are very welcoming. I definitely enjoy my time there while I’m painting.

In these paintings, specifically the “Merry Christmas” window you can see by the two photos, what my windows look like from both inside and outside. I’ve very proud of how tidy the inside is for the enjoyment of customers who happen to stop in to organise their holiday plans.

Winter Scenes Window Painting

Drayden Insurance in St. Albert decided to do wintery scenes instead of Christmas themed windows so that they could keep them up to enjoy into the new year. I'm really happy with these, especially the big scene. I have a hard time deciding if I like the woman on the far right or the little girl with orange hair and glasses. But they all look like they are having fun anyway! Sketches were were made and then a full day of window painting to do all their windows.

Christmas Window Painting for Farlie Travel ltd St Albert

This year's main window at Farlie Travel in St Albert Alberta focuses on Australia! The kangaroo image was used from some existing advertising that they are using. The koala had to be changed a bit to make him look a little more "koala" like. The Santa is all mine! The staff at Farlie Travel are really friendly and made me feel welcome … that's always a nice treat when you're deep in Christmas window painting and going from one place to another every day for a few weeks.
