Caricatures at Hudson Bay, Southgate Centre for their Gala Event

I went from one caricature event to anther today. My second event was drawing at The Bay, Southgate. I think this was my third or fourth time being asked back to The Bay to draw. It was great to see lots of familiar and friendly faces - the staff. But actually there were a few people who stopped by to say hello: a couple who I’d done big, stand up caricatures for their wedding reception, as well as a chef from the Edmonton Hotel and Convention Center who I’d drawn at one of their events. It truly was nice to see them, that they took the time to stop and say hello.

Some memorable moments from my day of drawing: 

The lady in the sari in one of these photos is just visiting from India and was looking forward to bringing her caricature home with her. I think it’s kinda cool that my caricatures will be in India!

Another lady said, “I can’t believe the lady who was being drawn before me didn’t talk, I can’t stop talking!” (speaking of herself). Too funny! I think she enjoyed herself.

Yet another lady said, “This is something, it’s like you’re looking into me.” She meant it as a compliment. I was pleased that people see the effort I put into trying to capture them.

Another person said that getting a caricature was something on their bucket list. Glad I could help check one item off it!

Putting them on Facebook, framing them, bringing them home to India. No wonder I love this job!

Caricatures for Estée Lauder

I drew caricatures for Estée Lauder at The Bay, Southgate in July. I was able to draw a few staff members but the customers were pleasantly surprised to get a complimentary caricature along with their products.

A few weeks back I drew at The Bay at Southgate as part of their makeup/fragrance promotion. This is one of the blonde woman with her short hair cut and red lips. I'm pretty proud of this one, I think my sketch turned out so adorable! I think I captured her smile that sparkles!
This second photo is a special caricature for this mother/daughter duo. The mom (from Iran) is visiting her daughter (who now lives in Canada). Glad I could give her something neat to take home
from her visit.

My Third Invitation from The Bay at Southgate to Draw

I did this a few weeks back but I have been so busy this is my fist chance to post.  I think I captured these women today! I was a bit envious of the women who stopped to get makeovers today just a few feet away from where I was drawing today. I was curious to peer over at their make up free faces then a few minutes later see how the cosmetic technicians brought their form of art to life. Then they came over to see me and I did my form of artwork for them!

Caricatures at The Bay

 had a great time today doing caricatures at The Bay at Southgate Mall! I was part of their "Springtime IN Paris" promotion. They went all out with fantastic sales, a musician on the accordion playing classic parisian music, serving up croissants and cream puffs and had me doing caricatures! It was a great atmosphere to draw in and it's always rewarding for me in that moment when you hold up the finished caricature and see their pleased look on their face but the absolute best is when you draw a young child and when they see their caricature and they say, "THAT'S ME!" … then you know you've succeeded!
