Caricatures at an Edmonton House Party

I had a seriously good time drawing caricatures at a birthday party. Such friendly people and good conversation. It never ceases to amaze me how lucky I am to have such a great job. The people I get to meet are pretty cool!

Face Painting

Face Painting is a pretty cool form of art! You do it and it gets washed off before bed or on some child’s pillow at night! There are some that I do that I’m so pleased with, like this Ninja Turtle, snake and this little blue birdie!

I so LOVE summer, where there are arms and legs to paint on too.

Caricatures at a Kid's Birthday Party

I recently drew caricatures at a 1st Birthday Party. The theme was “Little Man” and it was all about bow ties and moustaches. It seems as though I was the only one who donned a moustache. A simple task since I also do FACE PAINTING. But I had company with my bow tie. The party was held at Cafe O’Play in Riverbend. I’d never been there before and I’m sure if it had been in business back when my kids were little, I would have been there often! I drew kids and parents while the kids played and the parents visited. Caricatures are a great gift to give out. Parents were pleasantly surprised at being able to bring a caricature home with them.

Here is a picture of a sweet little girl at the party. I love her soft, kind facial expression with her smile.

Even Parents Want in on the Action

At a recent face painting booking at a little girl’s birthday party, her mom and dad wanted in on the face painting action! Here’s the beautiful mom…

Edmonton couple get a caricature gift at the party

It’s always neat drawing at a birthday party where people arrive and are so surprised to see that they are going to get a caricature at the party, to be able to take something like this home.

what great smiles this couple has! ….

Caricatures at a 1st Birthday Party

Friends and family gathered for a First Birthday Party and
I was lucky enough to be invited to draw the kids.

Here is my first drawing of the day of just the sweetest little boy. It’s days like this that remind me of how lucky I am to have the job I do. This little guy sat for me so nicely while we chatted. He stayed to watch me draw other kids and even helped me when I drew a couple caricatures from photos and had a question for the parent, he gladly went to ask them the question for me. I bet his teacher thinks he’s a treasure!

Caricatures at a Surprise 40th Birthday Party

I recently had the pleasure of drawing caricatures at a Surprise 40th Birthday party that was being hosted in someone’s home.

It’s fun to see the surprise on people’s faces when they find out that they get to have a caricature done!

You don’t go to a house party thinking you’re going to go home with a caricature!

Here is one of my favourites from the evening. As always... I wish I’d taken more photos that night.

Caricatures at the Fort Saskatchewan Fall Festival

The Fort Saskatchewan Downtown Business Council invited me back again this year to draw at their Fall Festival.

It was a bit windy which made it tricky for me at times, but it was a morning and afternoon of caricatures and a long line  up.

As you can see, I saw some great smiles today and met some nice people. Another good day!

Caricatures at a Birthday Celebration

I had a great night drawing caricatures at a birthday party. The women wore absolutely gorgeous saris, even the little girls! They had a group of Chinese Dancers come in to perform, Choo Choo the Clown, me doing caricatures and Cosmin Danila taking photos (which I can't wait to see!). I'm not quite sure what else they may have had BEFORE all the above mentioned showed up.

This little girl was adorable. I wasn't sure if her hair was supposed to be this style or if a bunch of it on the one side had fallen out of a braid or barrett. Either way, it was so cute.

And this group of 4 guys I drew were awesome! Nice … and … awesome. One of the guys said he was going to frame it. Another one of the guys said to me, "This is great, it's something that everybody should do at least once in their lifetime." He's right!

Face Painting for Fraser Community League

Fraser Community League (NE Edmonton, Alberta) asked me to face paint for their community event. They had food and lots of games for the kids … as well as me face painting!

This little guy loved his tiger face paint! He would come back every once in awhile to take a look at himself in my hand mirror. I would know each time because he would also growl as he looked at his face! Sure makes you smile when you know that someone likes what you painted for them that much.

They had a group of teenage girls volunteering and right near the end they came over to get some face painting. So they decided they wanted their legs done. I think seeing all of them here is pretty neat. I was glad to be able to do something cool for volunteers.

Caricature in Mundare, Alberta for Servus Credit Union

I drew caricatures in Mundare, Alberta this past weekend for Servus Credit Union

I had a really nice welcome right off the bat with a nice, young boy about 10 years old willing to help me unload my supplies (tent, chairs, signs, small table, and all my drawing stuff). I truly had a great afternoon drawing lots of freckly kids and some of their parents.

There are a lot of photos here because I told the kids that I would post their photos on my blog. I can't go back on my word! If I take a photo of someone under 18, I always ask their parents if I can take their photo and that I might put it on my blog as an example of my work. I don't think I've ever had someone say, "No, I rather you didn't." Thank you to everyone over the years who have let me take their photo with their caricature…. it's been my pleasure doing it for you.

A big  THANK-YOU to Mundare Servus Credit Union for having me at this year's big Mundare Days.
