Oil City Roadhouse - CFR window paintings

This is my latest window painting for Oil City Roadhouse and the Canadian Finals Rodeo week celebration.
It was decided to have most of the images quite high on the windows for two reasons
Crazy what people will do in a bar! Have a great CFR week everyone
Take the LRT door-to-door between Oil City Roadhouse and CFR [at rexall place].

CFR window paintings for Corus Entertainment Inc. (radio) in Edmonton

I had a great time, once again, painting windows at Corus Entertainment (The building that houses CISN, JOE FM, CHED and COOL 880).
It's nice receiving a "hello!" from radio personalities. It's always nice to be able to put a face to the voices that I hear on the radio all the time.
Mike McGuire from CISN had me on the radio twice while I was painting the window of his sound booth! He suggested I mention how to get in touch with me if someone wanted some window painting done. I was thrilled to have the chance to promote the window painting part of my art.
THANK YOU MIKE for giving me that opportunity! I am presently doing a cartoon of him as an official thank you . . . look for it on my blog soon . . . or on the Mike McGuire blog!

Charater Cartoons are simpler than charactures. Slick and great for reproduction on business cards
and other advertising. And also . . . unique!

Window Vinyl Art at the Great 88

The Great 88 at South Edmonton Common in Edmonton has been open a couple months.
The store owners, Dan and Antonia, found that their store front needed more pizzaz and wanted people to know what
The Great 88 was all about from the parking lot. They came up with phrases that best described their store and I came
up with images to go along with some of them. Pictured here is a BEFORE shot and some AFTER shots. The cartoon
images add interest and using the white vinyl will really make them stand out, especially on sunny days. These photos
were taken on a partially cloudy day.
The Great 88 carries thousands of items under $1.00 . . . . better than a dollar store!
Please visit Antonia and Dan's Great 88, they are good people.
in the fall and winter I'll enjoy the warm colours in this painting

My Original painting .....
......? cover with texturizer
Close-up of texturizer. Cool stuff!? It was fun gooping it on.
..... paint till you can't see the tulips anymore and you've got a different look!
I'm going to hang this new paintingabout 6 inches higher but here it is. Who knows if I'll be putting on more paint here and there every once in awhile.?
When I asked my son what he thought of it he said, "What's it supposed to be? It's kinda weird Mom."
I guess he's a bit too used to seeing my very detailed, realistic paintings.
I think that's why I like this one (for now) because it's different and for the fall and winter I'll enjoy the warm colours in it.?

Painting of "Tulips ready to Bloom" for Sale

When I was taking photos of a bunch of tulips to do a commissioned painting, I took approximately 60 - 70 photos of the colour of tulips she chose until I came up with two photos where I loved the composition. Susan chose the photo where the flowers were wide open, looking very summer-ish. I knew that at some point I wanted to paint the other photo.
I wanted a painting to take with me on the train to Jasper, being part of the ARTIST ON RAILS promotion. I didn't manage to get it finished before hand but was able to bring it along with me to work on when I wasn't busy drawing caricatures. Had just a bit left to do on it when I got back. Yup, it's done.
It looks great on my mantel but as usual, since I picked art as my living, I must put it up for sale.
If you're interested, you can borrow it to see if it fits in your home well. Until then, I will simply enjoy it till it has a new home!
The size is 24 inches X 30 inches. For sale for $400.
The colour in this photo of the painting is pretty close to being the painting's true colours. Love our new camera!

Caricature of Laurel in Jasper

I just got back from doing caricatures as one of the artists with ARTISTS ON RAILS. This is my second summer participating in the event and I hope to be invited back! I did caricatures on the VIA train from Edmonton to Jasper and back a couple days later. I stayed at The Sawridge Hotel in Jasper doing caricatures and painting in their lobby. I tried to "work" as much as I could and was tired at the end of the day but had a great time chatting with people as I drew them or as they stopped to talk. I met a lot of nice people visiting Jasper and Canada from around the world as well as great staff on VIA and at the Sawridge.
A big thank you to Marianne Garrah, the woman who came up with the idea of ARTISTS ON RAILS for Alberta artists. Marianne
is passionate about art and keeping the wildlife in Jasper from becoming extinct - please look up one of her other projects called TuktuPrayers - and travelling art exhibit of caribou art.
