This sign is the Bee's Knees!

I finally got a chance to take pictures of some of the signs I did designs for at the John Janzen Indoor Playground! (original Bee Blog post from April, 2013)

These bees were fun but harder to draw that you might think. They had to be appealing to kids but also be close to anatomically correct. This sign shows The Busy Life of Worker Bees. My favourite bee is the one with the broom and scrub brush on DAYS 22 - 24 as well as the last bee with the big magnifying glass on DAYS 43 AND ONWARDS...

I hope the kids enjoy all the informative signs in John Janzen’s Indoor Playground. If you have little kids, come check it out!

Caricatures by Edmonton Artist Laurel Hawkswell

Happy Birthday! - five years of my Edmonton Artist Blog

Hello Friends! I first starting blogging to showcase my art and display my portfolio to regular customers.  Some of those people that I did graphic art for would view my blog and say "I never knew you painted portraits, pets, murals or drew caricatures...".  Having my portfolio on-line using Picassa has given me the opportunity to meet or correspond with a lot of new people from all over the world.  There are days when I will get two or three work enquiries from new clients because of my blog. It never ceases to blow my mind! My google places has literally put me on the map in Edmonton.

marriage proposal

IT WAS MY HONOR to be part of a marriage proposal recently ... it was pre-arranged that I draw the young man on one knee, with a ring in his hand and a talk bubble that said, "Tiffany, will you marry me?" and as I held it up for them both to look at, he got down on one knee with a ring and asked her to marry him. I was thrilled to be asked to do this for him. They won't be the only ones that always remember that day!

To respect the couple's privacy and to keep it really special for them, I am not adding a photo to accompany this story.

Laurel's cartoon of CISN FM's Mike McGuire

Hi Mike McGuire,

Here is the cartoon of you that I promised!
Hope you like it.
Thanks again for putting me on CISN FM last week and letting me promote my window painting stuff.
