Caricatures at Stantec for MS Fundraiser

I drew caricatures yesterday for Stantec Architecture in downtown Edmonton. They were doing an MS Fundraiser. A very windy day kept me inside and cozy in the lobby. I met a lot of nice people and was happy to be a part of this very worthy cause.

I need to apologise to this lovely lady with the curly blonde hair. She asked me to check the photo because she said she often ends up taking photos with her eyes closed. I swear it looked like her eyes were open! I swear! Either way, she’s still a beauty.

I drew a few groups of three. They were colleagues that were obviously friends as well. So great to see, people who enjoy their time at work so much! And I definitely enjoyed my time at Stantec.

Caricatures that Celebrate

I drew today at two events. The first was a fundraiser for Village of Hope Orphans in Africa. The organiser had dancers from several different dance schools in Edmonton, a brunch buffet, silent auction and I did caricatures. The highlight of the morning was doing FaceTime with the village. One of the Edmonton dance groups danced for the kids at the orphanage and then everyone was treated to a couple dances by some of the kids at the orphanage. A pretty darned cool experience. Then I quickly packed up and headed to a big birthday celebration to draw for a few more hours. This young girl was my only set of braces for the day. I love drawing braces. Being able to capture a moment in time when someone is missing some teeth or wearing braces, I find it neat to draw that stage in their life. I guess it's capturing a stage in a person's life with each drawing isn't it.

The Masterpiece...

I personally think this is one of the best pieces of art I've done ...
This girl is close to my heart. I look forward to hearing about her future accomplishments. Hey, I'll keep you all posted!

- shaved her head to raise money for the BC children’s hospital
- put on a bakesale after the 2011 earthquake in Japan to help with relief efforts
- volunteered to cook breakfast before school at the Gospel Mission
- organized a “Help for Haiti” event to raise funds and awareness a year after the earthquake
- did many bottle drives to raise money for a clean water project in Kenya
- sold fair trade bracelets to raise money for drought relief in Eastern Africa
- collected food outside of grocery stores to donate to the food bank
- participated in a 24 hour vow of silence to raise awareness for child exploitation
- did a 24 hour fast to raise food for the local food bank
- currently planning a charity concert to benefit building a school in Ecuador
- going to Ecuador this summer for a volunteer trip to go build schools

WOW!

This girl is close to my heart. I look forward to hearing about her future accomplishments.

Caricatures at a fundraising event and at a company party

These girls were such a blast and talk about cute!

Caricatures at a fundraising event for The Stollery Children’s Hospital at Jox Sports Bar & Grill. These girls were such a blast and talk about cute! When they walked up and said they wanted a caricature, I could hardly contain myself because I could see instantly that they had such pizzaz that it was going to be fun drawing them.

then,
Another good time at a company party! ....
