I enjoyed my day drawing caricatures at the City of Edmonton Employee’s Health & Wellness Fair. I didn’t get a chance to look around at all of the booths but I did get to draw a lot of great faces! Here are a few of my favorites from the day.

Ther City of Edmonton Colouring & Activity Book artwork

I got a few hard copies of the artwork I'd worked on for The City of Edmonton's Colouring & Activity Book. The main objective was to teach pool safety in a fun way.

Some of the drawings still make me smile after several months of finishing it:

1) The little boy and girl standing proudly with their lifejackets on
2) The three kids in "Always swim with a Buddy" and
3) The two kiddies in "If you can't swim, stay in shallow water."

It's nice to see a big project complete and printed officially.

O'Leary Fitness & Leisure Centre signs

I dropped off a bunch of signs for O'Leary Fitness & Leisure Centre today. They have bears as their "mascot". I really like the ideas that O'Leary staff came up with  for these signs. When you tell a person that they need to go no deeper than shoulder deep if they can't swim, they also need to understand that their children's shoulder deep is a lot different! And then there's my  favourite, the giraffe showing how deep their deep pool is. They've said that they get a lot of kids AND some adults standing beside the giraffe and looking up … way up! Brilliant stuff Colleen! And I have to admit that I'm pretty darned proud of how I brought her idea to life. I think the giraffe is cute and I like how the message is presented.

The Indoor Play Area at The City of Edmonton's John Janzen Nature Centre has signs that include my drawings of squirrels, flowers, mushrooms and I look forward to several new signs to go up soon that will include my bee graphics! Can't wait to see them!

Mill Woods Bicycle Festival design

I think this turned out pretty sweet, even if I do say so myself. Fun and lighthearted.

I hope it works well for The City of Edmonton's Community Services and their Mill Woods Bicycle Festival.

I think my favourite character on it is the little dude on the scooter!

A mural done for the Indoor Play Area at City of Edmonton's Terwilleger Recreation Centre

A mural done for the Indoor Play Area at City of Edmonton's Terwilleger Recreation Centre.

The Indoor Play Area has a stage that had blank walls. Our hope is by adding these characters that are performing and play acting, that it will give the kids the idea to do the same!

You can only see part of the mural from the hallway windows which is a bit of a shame. My personal favourites are the little boy on the moon and "Canadian Girl"!

Of course the characters and mural layout was designed by me as well as the painting of it.
